Participants in a virtual seminar, organized at the initiative of the Observatory for the Protection of the Environment and Historical Monuments in Tangier, called for the adoption of a new approach in managing historical monuments, given their important civilized role.

The symposium organized in partnership with the "Press House" in Tangier, under the slogan "For a new approach to managing historical monuments and enhancing their civilizational and developmental role", was an occasion to highlight the necessity to advance historical monuments in order to enhance gravity and cultural tourism.

In this context, the participants stressed the necessity of adopting draft law No. 13-52, related to the protection, valuation and preservation of cultural heritage, in order to protect the tangible heritage and historical buildings, and to review Law No. 22-80 related to the preservation of historical buildings, scenes, inscriptions, and artifacts And the fairies.

Intervers indicated that Morocco has a rich physical and material cultural heritage, registering that the management of this heritage recorded a major breakthrough in 2006 with the creation of the regional directorates of culture, and the implementation of many projects, especially in the region of Tangier-Tetouan Al Hoceima, at the initiative of the Heritage Directorate.

They also emphasized that Morocco adopts an integrated and participatory approach in the field of cultural heritage management, praising in the same context the creation of regional provinces for cultural heritage that develop development strategies in consultation with local stakeholders and civil society.

This symposium was an opportunity to emphasize that any process for the restoration and rehabilitation of historical monuments must take into account the need to respect and protect heritage, given its important role in preserving the identity of peoples and civilizations.

Participants also stressed the need to pay attention to the human dimensions in the cultural field, as references to civilized identity, stressing that the marketing of cultural heritage can contribute to creating wealth and achieving development.

With regard to the city of Tangier; The speakers highlighted the initiatives taken to preserve its heritage and the historical monuments that abound in it, calling, in turn, for the serious mobilization of the various actors involved in order to promote the cultural diversity of the city.
