Surf Safari Tour in Morocco Casablanca, Morocco

Surf Safari Tour in Morocco

The coastline of Morocco has a diversity that offers seemingly endless areas of sand-covered points, reefs, and beach breaks. 50km either side of Agadir is an area densely saturated with world-class spots. With a consistent source of Atlantic swell, and a constantly changing shoreline of exposed and sheltered points, reefs and beach breaks, you can find 10ft points, endless mellow 6ft walls or perfect beginner waves. Morocco is full of point break, and the coastline around the Agadir area is packed with spots that come alive with the swells.

DAY 1 : CASABLANCA - RABAT - MAHDIA
Transfer from CASABLANCA  airport to RABAT  . stop for refreshment before continuing to MAHDIA  beach .
DAY 2 : MAHDIA - CASABLANCA
Mehdya Plage is a consistent right-hand pier/groyne/jetty break (sand bottom) that works at all points of the tide. This spot in Mehdia (Kenitra region) gets its best conditions with a south-easterly breeze and a westerly to northerly swell. Mehdya Plage only starts working with a swell of around 0,3m and can hold shape with swell of up to around 3m. First surfed in 1964 when a board reached the nearby US military base, this is the cradle of surfing in Morocco. The powerful Moone righthander breaking along the south jetty is the most reliable spot, sheltered from northerlies and able to handle size. There’s also surf in Chlihat, past the north jetty, and even in the rivermouth when it’s big enough to get Charatane’s left going. The town beachbreaks are a good summer bet.
DAY 3 : CASABLANCA - SAFI
Safi’s “Garden” remained semi-secret for a long time, with those in the know understandably protective of the long, ultra-fast, throaty barrels that fire down the point north of Safi. Unfortunately, it is very fickle, only breaking in big swells at low tide. There are more rights in the area under similar conditions.
DAY 4 : SAFI - ESSAOUIRA - SIDI KAOUKI
Essaouira is arguably the best spot on our list of ‘The Top 5 Beginner Surf Beaches in Morocco’ for those completely new to the sport because the beach has a soft sand bottom. It is best at high-tide with a light north wind because it creates both left and right peaks that allow you to get a grip of the basic surf skills. Sidi Kaouki , A quiet village 30km south of Essaouira. Long open beachbreak with loads of punchy peaks and a bit of reef at the rivermouth and south end. Good shape on the right swells as long as wind is E quadrant.
DAY 5 : SIDI KAOUKI - IMESSOUANE
Imessouane is one of the best-kept secrets for people on a Morocco surf camp because Magic Bay is a long right-hander that can break for up to 600m when the conditions align, making it one of the longest waves in Africa. Imagine a mellow Skeleton Bay that has been flipped around, and you’ll get the picture! Mountainous cliffs slope down to a calm bay that has a long and pointy headland that the right-hand walls wrap around and then peels down the sandy bay. A must visit for any surfer, regardless of ability.
DAY 6 : IMESSOUANE - TAMRI
This ultra consistent beach break is the place to go when Taghazout is flat. Quick back sections pay privilege to an even more constant beach push, strong currents at times but a fun ride all the same. For beginners just be aware how far you have drifted down the coast. The lush estuary is home to camels and flamingos, a truly wonderful spot. For more experienced surfers, there is normally a great left hander off the sand bank in front of the cliffs, one of the few lefts to be had in our part of Morocco!
DAY 7 : TAMRI - TAGHAZOUT
A nice beach break often overlooked for the more famous surf spots in the Taghazout area, but producing some good barrels and less crowded than some other breaks. When there is a huge swell rolling in, the sheltered breach break is a safe place for beginners to learn. There is a right hander point break at the end (again we can see it from the roof terrace at Surf Berbere). The beach is a perfect place to learn from as there is a nice sandy bottom and very little current.
DAY 8 : TAGHAZOUT
Free Time at leisure. Excursion to Paradise valley.
DAY 9 :TAGHAZOUT
Free Time at leisure. Excursion to to Agadir city for shopping in the big Souk of Agadir.
DAY 10 : TAGHAZOUT - AGADIR - DEPARTURE
